Tracian Meikle

Tracian Meikle is a Jamaican curator, currently based in Amsterdam, whose work falls under the conceptual umbrella, Balmyard, which is rooted in ancestral connection and collective black freedom-seeking. She has worked in the field of arts and culture as a researcher, moderator and educator in a number of institutions including the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In Nigeria, she was a curator-in-residence at the experimental artspace, The Treehouse Lagos; led the work of 1952 Africa, an arts institution dedicated to the development of African artists, and was the academic lead for the inaugural Soto Gallery Residency. She recently co-organized the Black Art School at Metro 54 in Amsterdam and is leading a residency at Afropocene in Kampala for artists who seek to align their practice with liberatory worldmaking.
